Prison Guard Allegedly Pregnant With Inmate's Baby, Charged With Rape

A prison guard allegedly six months pregnant with an inmate's baby has been arrested on rape charges.

Police believe Brewster had been sexually involved with the inmate -- whose name has not been released -- since 2010, according to a New York State Police press release.

The release states, "The two would become intimate during her shift assignments at the prison on the cell block on which the inmate was housed."

The woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony third-degree rape and official misconduct. The rape charge stems from the fact that an inmate cannot legally consent to sex, according to the New York Post.

Downstate Correctional Facility is a maximum-security prison. The inmate, who is imprisoned on a felony conviction, has been moved to another facility.

Brewster is currently free on her own recognizance.
