In its apparent mission to make everything available on-demand, Uber is following up its hysteria-inducing kitten deliveries with a Christmas tree delivery service.
The ride-request app is partnering with The Home Depot for one day only to deliver Christmas trees to users’ doors in 10 U.S. cities. From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on December 5, an “UberTREE” option will appear alongside the app’s list of ride requests.

While picking out the perfect Douglas Fir or White Spruce is a Christmas tradition for many, Uber is capitalizing on the young urbanites without cars who frequent their services.
“Instead of spending your weekend wrestling with a tree from the not-so-near farm or slushy street corner, kick back, pour yourself an extra glass of eggnog and watch your app as Uber takes care of the heavy lifting,” the company announced on its blog.
The 7 to 8-ft. Fraser Firs and Noble Firs will come wrapped up in a net with a stand and a gift from Uber, rumored to be an extremely cozy scarf. But the tree and its perks come at a price; Uber will charge $135 to users’ accounts for all that convenience.
Uber users in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco and Washington D.C. hoping for an on-demand tree will need to be persistent, as the company warns that availability will be extremely limited. And if the heartbreaking kitten shortage was any indication, they aren't kidding.
The trees might not inspire the same madness as Uber’s collaborations on kitten and ice cream truck deliveries earlier this year, but a partnership with a company as big as The Home Depot may be a sign of the app’s growing business influence.
"These are all aligning our brand with complementary brands," Andrew Noyes, Uber's San Francisco spokesman, told Inc. "I think you'll see many new innovative business partnerships in the future."
