'Under The Dome' Trailer: CBS Releases Video, Executive Producers Preview Drama (VIDEO)

First Look At CBS' 'Under The Dome'

Prepare to go "Under the Dome" with a new trailer from CBS. The summer series based on Stephen King's novel of the same name will knock your socks off, according to those behind the scenes.

"It just gets pretty scary very quickly," Britt Robinson says in the "Under the Dome" trailer above, which includes footage both from the series and behind the scenes.

"People's eyes are going to bug out of their head when they see it," King says in the trailer of the show's visual effects. "It's going to be riveting TV."

"Lost" veterans Jack Bender and Brian K. Vaughan serve as executive producers on "Under the Dome," which follows the inhabitants of a small Maine town who suddenly find themselves under a dome, cut off from the rest of civilization.

"When I read this script, I had the same reaction as when I saw the 'Lost' pilot ... I really wanted to spend time with those characters in that world, and I felt that way about this show," Bender said at the "Under the Dome" WonderCon panel over the weekend. "When I came aboard and read Brian's first episode, what really excited me were the characters, and this show is really a character show with a sci-fi element as opposed to the other way around. It's really examining people who are trapped in extraordinary situations, inexplicably impossible situations, where, if a dome appeared over Anaheim, what would we all do? It's what we would all do that makes the series great ... Our writing team [has] developed characters that are extraordinarily rich and fascinating to follow under the microscope."

The writers have the task of taking a contained story and stretching it out for TV. "Stephen has been very generous with us and said, 'Look, I always imagined telling a story with what would happen if people were trapped under this dome for, hopefully, years at a time.' For those of you who've read the book, it's really only a few days. He told us, 'Really use the book as a jumping off point; use the characters, use the themes, but don't be afraid to go to new places,'" Vaughan said on the panel.
