The premise of the show is fairly straight forward: CEOs of major companies shed their suits and step down to flip burgers or collect trash with the lower rung employees of their companies, and learn how to improve the lives of their workers and the company itself.
Tonight on "Undercover Boss," Loehmann's CEO Steve Newman, who is openly gay, dons a disguise and hits the retail floor, helping women find the right bra size and inspecting clothing like the employees of his clothing store chain do everyday.
GLAAD had a quick chat with Newman about his experience on the show, and asked him about being an out CEO of a retail giant:
GLAAD: Why do you feel it is important for you, as a CEO of a major company and a successful businessman, to be out professionally?
SN: I don't view it as being important to be out -- being gay is just who I am, and it's important to me to be authentic and real, always.
The episode featuring Newman airs tonight, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
