Top 10 U.S. Ethical Employers, According To Undergraduates

Undergrads Rank Top 10 Ethical Employers

Which employers are the pinnacle of good business, according to undergraduate students?

Universum, an organization that focuses on employer branding, has released the top 10 most ethical employers, ranked by 59,600 undergraduate students.

The study included respondents from more than 221 universities, including top-ranked schools.

“To be associated with high ethical standards should be something organizations should strive for because it speaks to the way that they conduct their business and treat their customers,” said Camille Kelly, Universum's Vice President of Employer Branding.

It's no surprise that Millennials would have strong opinions on this topic, as study after study indicates they place a job with purpose high on their 5-year plans. The generation described as "self-expressive, liberal, upbeat and open to change" by HuffPost blogger Theresa Berenato is known for its emphasis on seeking jobs that are values-driven.

A recent report by the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School points out that Millennials are more motivated by meaningful work than by high pay.

On the other hand, Millennials are also known as "Generation Me," and studies have shown them to actually be less environmentally conscious, community-oriented and politically engaged than GenX'ers and Baby Boomers.

It remains to be seen how these undergraduates' idealism will manifest itself. But for now, the following employers represent not only the businesses these students deem as having the highest ethical standards, but they also those they rank high as ideal employers in general.
