Have you ever noticed how much background noise we experience?
We can be on the phone, talking to people near us, and simultaneously hear the fire-truck going by, a car alarm, loud music from a car or the sound a cash register makes when scanning an item. In fact, some people have become so used to noise that they need it to fall asleep because silence is too uncomfortable.

One of my favorite aspects of being a morning person is the relative quiet. There are also places either in one's home or in nature that, with a small amount of planning, can help us unplug by stepping back from sound.

It might be something as simple as going for a walk without a cellphone and just listening to the birds and wind. It could mean heading down to the beach and sitting. Perhaps, it is just sitting quietly somewhere without talking. Taking 20-30 minutes to unplug from sound. See how you feel and let me know.
