USS Carl Vinson, Aircraft Carrier That Buried Bin Laden At Sea, Visits Hong Kong (VIDEO)

Bin Laden Burial Ship Visits Hong Kong

The aircraft carrier that handled Osama bin Laden's controversial burial at sea visited Hong Kong on Sunday amidst tight security.

As the Wall Street Journal is reporting, military personnel aboard the nuclear-powered USS Carl Vinson were forbidden from discussing the ship's role in the al Qaeda leader's burial during a closely-guarded press tour. A top naval officer would only say the ship routinely conducts sea burials.

"I can't talk about the morale on the ship since Osama bin Laden or anything about Osama bin Laden," Rear Adm. Samuel Perez, commander of the carrier strike force, is quoted as saying. "But I will tell you that there [are] 5,000 sailors on board this ship, and they are some of the most amazing Americans that we have in our nation."

Hong Kong police officers confirmed to the AFP that they had stepped up patrols in key neighborhoods, including the Wan Chai entertainment district, which is expected to draw many of the 7,000 U.S. sailors during their four-day shore leave.
