Vanessa Hudgens and her boyfriend, Austin Butler, found out that love is hard on Valentine's Day.

Authorities are investigating whether the couple is responsible for carving their names into a rock formation in Sedona, Arizona, according to The Associated Press. Hudgens posted a picture of the names "Austin + Vanessa" with a heart etched around them on Sunday, but later took the photo down.

The photo was brought to the attention of the Coconino National Forest, which manages the land surrounding Sedona, prompting an investigation into the damage. The Huffington Post has reached out to both the organization and Vanessa Hudgens and will update this post accordingly.

Brady Smith, a spokesperson for Coconino, told the AP that he doesn't know if law enforcement has located the illegally etched heart. "People make mistakes whether knowingly or unknowingly," Smith said.

This "mistake" could end up costing Hudgens and her boyfriend $5,000 or six months in jail. But, as we all know, true love is priceless.
