Vanity Fair Tribeca Film Festival Party Brings The Celebs Out Of Hiding (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: The Celebrities Come Out Of Hiding For Vanity Fair's Tribeca Film Fest Fete

After spending a month in hiding after the awards show season wrapped (or at least that's how it seemed), the stars were out and about last night to kick off the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival. They did so, of course, with a big Vanity Fair-sponsored party, held at the State Supreme Courthouse in New York.

The unconventional setting made for a strange backdrop, with celebs posing against a massive stone staircase. But the cheerful spring fashion made up for the rather drab background: Dakota Fanning, one of the fest's jurors, popped in neon pink Lanvin, which almost (but not quite) distracted us from the strange headband situation on her head; Leelee Sobieski was eye-catching in a full-skirted Jil Sander dress; and Wendi Murdoch made one of the strongest statements of the night in no less than six different bright colors.

In fact, nearly everyone looked polished and pretty with few sartorial missteps to speak of. Except, of course, Judd Apatow, who was sporting a plaid shirt and sneakers. "Everyone here is better dressed than me. What's happening? I thought this was like a film festival and you don't dress up," he fretted to a reporter.

Nope, Judd: now that the weather's warm and celebs have come out of their post-Oscars hibernation, everyone's dressing up.
