Here's What The 'Veronica Mars' Spin-Off Web Series Will Be About

'Veronica Mars' Cast Is Reuniting Again For A Spin-Off

What's better than a "Veronica Mars" movie? A meta "Veronica Mars" spin-off series, because there's no such thing as too much.

Creator Rob Thomas announced that a spin-off web series was in the works with The CW back in January. He revealed that the tone of the series would more closely resemble his Starz show "Party Down" and would be about star Ryan Hansen, who played Dick Casablancas on "Veronica Mars." Buzzfeed reveals that the spin-off will be titled "Play It Again, Dick" and will star Hansen alongside his former "Veronica" cast. But wait, it gets better.

Hansen won't just reprise Dick in the series, he'll be playing a fictionalized version of himself who has written a "Veronica" spin-off for himself and his former costars to be in (so meta.) Along with Hansen, Kristen Bell will play a version of herself as well as her beloved Mars, while Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs, Daran Norris, Francis Capra, Kyle Gallner and Christopher B. Duncan play both themselves and their characters. Ryan Devlin from the third season of "Veronica Mars" will be back, but this time to replace Teddy Dunn as Duncan Kane. A few other familiar faces will return to play only one character, such as Ken Marino and Chris Lowell as themselves, and Lisa Thornhill as just Celeste Kane and Amanda Noret as Madison Sinclair.

We know that's really confusing, but still, we're excited and we're sure all the meta layers will make sense when we see it. The eight-episode web series, which will each be approximately 10 minutes long, will air online on The CW's Seed on Sept. 15.
