'Very Bad Men': Baseline Killer Featured; Mark Goudeau's Wife Says He's Innocent (VIDEO)

'Very Bad Men': Mother Of Baseline Killer Victim Speaks Out

The story of the Baseline Killer was presented on ID's "Very Bad Men." Through interviews and re-enactments, viewers were led through the police investigation into the man given that name. He proved difficult to catch because after sexually assaulting his female victims, he would make them wipe his DNA off. Then, he would kill them.

Finally, though, police were able to find a small amount of DNA on one victim, which led them to Mark Goudeau. But it was too late for the victims. One grandmother detailed having to explain to her grandson why his mother had been taken from him. The boy had been the one to discover her body in their home.

"I just hugged him, and I told him … God needed an angel," she said. "And he said, 'No, Nana. I need my mom. What about me?'"

Goudeau was sentenced to death nine times over, as reported in November 2011. That same month, Goudeau's wife of 20 years insisted that he was innocent, suggesting that he was a scapegoat.
