Just weeks before the debate surrounding the rights of transgender minors heads before the the Supreme Court, VICE is offering a personal look at what it means to be part of a family with a transgender child.
“Trans Youth” is the second episode from the fifth season of “VICE,” the Emmy-winning news magazine show that airs on HBO. Producers for the series say it was especially important to them to provide an inside look at the families of transgender youth and how they are coming to terms with the gender identity of their children.
“We hope that viewers walk away from this episode feeling differently,” VICE correspondent Gianna Toboni told The Huffington Post. “Our intention is for this episode to emotionally resonate with and educate our audience by elevating several unheard voices in this community... This issue isn’t easy for anybody. We’ve learned a lot from spending time with these families. Take a few minutes to meet young people who are trans.”
