Police and family members in Miramar, Florida are desperately searching for clues in the case of a mother of three who seemingly vanished over the weekend.

Vilet Patricia Torrez was last seen leaving a friend's house Friday night, according to police. Her company car was found in the parking lot of her apartment complex, but the 38-year-old bath remodeling specialist didn't show up for work over the weekend and hasn't made contact with relatives.

She was reported missing by estranged husband Cid Torrez on Monday, whom police describe as no particular suspect and "very cooperative," according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Investigators told WSVN they can't figure out why Torrez is missing: "All we are doing right now is trying to find out where she is at," said Miramar Detective Jonathan Zeller.

"I'm extremely worried," said brother Javier Blanco. "I don't know where she is. This is completely uncharacteristic of her."

Cid Torrez told NBCMiami he last saw his estranged wife on Friday afternoon when he picked up their three children for the weekend.

"Our relationship -- as far as when it comes to the kids, she's a great mother," he said. "As for her and me, we did have our little differences right at the end. But when it comes to our kids, everything was very, very close. My kids need their mother."

Police have so far declined to identify the restaurant where Torrez ate dinner, or name the friend with whom she was last seen.

A police K-9 unit has been trying to pick up the Torrez' scent at her apartment complex, and detectives are hoping a review of surveillance video from the property may reveal some clue.

Meanwhile, Torrez' family is "destroyed," said Javier Blanco.

"If somebody's sister, your sister, your brother, your close relative just all of a sudden vanishes into thin air, of course you're distraught," he said. "You don't know what's happening."

UPDATE: Police are following new leads and the children have been removed from Cid Torrez' custody. Read the latest update on the case here.
