Virgin America To Donate Up To $50,000 From Ticket Sales To Education Nonprofits

Virgin America and Twitter have joined forces to launch a Fly Forward, Give Back airfare sale for charity. For 24 hours, $5 will be donated to education-focused nonprofit organizations for every direct booking made through Virgin America.

The airline, which prides itself on making "flying good again" is encouraging flyers to purchase tickets and retweet sale prices to spread the word and raise as much as possible for education causes.

By the end of today, Virgin America will have donated up to $50,000 to the Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) Classroom Projects, which creates free college preparatory schools in communities lacking adequate resources. Virgin America will make their charitable contribution through the online charity DonorsChoose.org, which makes it easier for others to help students as well. Virgin America has supported KIPP's programs in the past, and continues to encourage people to support various educational causes.

Tickets must be purchased between 7:00 a.m. PDT on August 3 and 7:00 a.m. PDT on August 4 to be part of the 'Fly Forward, Give Back' campaign.

Tickets are on sale on the Virgin America website and at 1-877-FLY-VIRGIN begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-877-FLY-VIRGIN end_of_the_skype_highlighting (1-877-359-8474).
