When it comes to fall, there are some states that offer its residents the very best of the season, like foliage, apples, pumpkins and cider. And then there are some states that have so much autumnal goodness that it will make you fall head over heels. Virginia is one of those states.

Besides the typical fall activities, Virginia offers visitors the opportunity to get their pants scared off at a haunted forest (yes, forest!) in Dumfries, and lost in a massive corn maze in Leesburg. Travelers can also spend their days wine tasting, brewery hopping or attending a cozy fall festival with tons of local eats.

It's about time you take one of many adventures through one of the original thirteen colonies. Take a look at the activities you should indulge in below!

Charlottesville is one of the best towns in the state, so you should definitely go there to pick apples, get a pumpkin, drink some cider AND eat some good, good donuts, all at Carter Mountain Orchard.

Why not hike in the fall? It's cool enough that you won't be too sweaty and the leaves will look so, so pretty. Shenandoah National Park includes 500 miles of trails, including 101 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
