A special clause in six-month visas issued to athletes, coaches and officials visiting for the Olympics bans them from marrying while staying in the UK.
Nearly 20,000 visas will be granted to visitors but they will be prevented from forming any civil partnerships or marriages and barred from applying for visas to study in Britain.
