Walk Down The Aisle Was Extra Special For This Bride

WATCH: Why This Bride's Walk Down The Aisle Was Extra Special

One Ohio bride was determined to walk down the aisle on her wedding day, no matter what the doctors told her.

Alissa Boyle Grimes was injured trying to help a man whose car had flipped over on the highway, and doctors told her she would never be able to walk again. But Grimes never gave up on her desire to walk down the aisle.

And according to WTOV, she was able to make that dream a reality.

“It’s like I met every goal that I’ve had since the accident and this is my last one and I did it,” said Grimes. "It hasn’t been easy, but I just take it a day at a time and I’m glad I’m here."

Grimes credits her husband, Nathan Grimes, with encouraging her along the road to recovery.

She isn't the only bride to overcome an injury on her wedding day. In August, a paralyzed bride from Toledo, Ohio used a walker to help her make her way to her waiting groom.
