New 'Walking Dead' Interview May Further Support Those Carl Death Rumors

"You never know how it will go."

Rick Grimes, if you’re ever going to follow through on your promise to kill Negan, you might want to do it now.

Yeah, we heard you. Hurry up, man, because rumors are flying around that Negan is going to kill Carl. And that guy doesn’t mess around.

Though Carl is integral to the Negan storyline in the comics, speculation about his demise started spreading after actor Chandler Riggs posted that he got accepted into college. His dad also stirred up the rumor mill after revealing his son’s seven-year contract with the show was fulfilled.

“Walking Dead” actor Tom Payne assuaged our fears for a bit, reminding us how important Carl is to the story. But now Riggs himself has commented on going to college, and we’re even more worried.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Riggs opened up about his future on the show, saying, “You never know how it will go.”

Ugh, dude.

He went on to say, “I want for it to work out,” and that “theoretically” he’d be able to go to class and still do the show. Riggs admitted, “It wouldn’t be easy but I think that could be possible.”

However, just in case you were starting to feel good again, THR asked the actor if his contract was renewed for Season 8.

“I can’t answer that,” he responded.

You know what that means. R.I.P., Carl. Enjoy your big can of pudding up there in the sky.

See Riggs’ full comments on the subject here:

Looking ahead, congratulations on your college acceptance to Auburn. How might that impact your future with the show?

You never know how it will go. I really do hope it works out because that would be really cool. I like to be in The Walking Dead and I like to play video games and just hang out with my friends and try to be as normal as possible so going to college would be another really cool, normal experience in my life. I want for it to work out.

Is there a way in which you can be a full-time student as well as a series regular on The Walking Dead?

Yes. Theoretically, I could take one or two classes on campus and maybe an online class. My professors would have to be willing to cooperate. It wouldn’t be easy but I think that could be possible.

Is that something you’re trying to do?

Yes.

Do you have a contract for season eight?

I can’t answer that.
