Wall Street Journal Celebrates 125th Anniversary By Reprinting Original Front Page

The Wall Street Journal celebrated its 125th anniversary on Tuesday with a look back at the headlines from July 8, 1889.

The Journal put together several print and digital features to commemorate the anniversary. Most notably, the newspaper reprinted its very first front page on Tuesday along with annotations that explain the way many of the top stories unfolded. The paper also noted the original price, which was 2 cents, pointing out that it would cost about 51 cents today.

The anniversary paper also included a special package called, "The Future of Everything," a compilation of essays by contributors such as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Morgan Stanley CEO James P. Gorman and musician Taylor Swift.

The newspaper's website featured anniversary content as well, including historical video clips and a look at how The Wall Street Journal of 2014 might have covered the front page stories of July 8, 1889.
