Walmart Boosts Streaming Video Plan: MediaBytes with Shelly Palmer February 23, 2010

Walmart purchased video streaming company Vudu yesterday. Many believe the move comes as Walmart attempts to increase its streaming video service, an offering which has failed to catch on with consumers. With video downloads and streaming growing every day, the acquisition could make Walmart a premier source for watching content online.

Colleges in the US are now accepting YouTube videos along with applications. Tufts University, one of the university's currently accepting YouTube videos, noted that the medium allows admissions officers to get a better sense of who the applicant is as a person. In the first year, approximately 1,000 prospective applicants included a video along with their application (60% of which were female), a sign that the video application may be here to stay.

Yesterday the web site for Rolling Stone magazine appeared to be nonexistent. Users who visited the popular music site were greeted with a Network Solutions webpage that typically shows up when a domain name is available. RollingStone.com has been down ever since, as many believe the company may not have re-registered their domain name. A reminder to all domain name owners, don't let your registration expire, especially if your trying to do business.
