Davidson hired 30 goats on Monday to combat their growing kudzu problem. Kudzu, a persistent weed, has taken hold in the cross country paths surrounding the college and has become essentially impossible to clear away. It has lately been causing the college runners to fall.
"It's a trip hazard," said Charles Jolly, Assistant Grounds Director of Davidson College to WCNC.com.
Thus, enter the goats, who will eat 12 to 18 pounds of kudzu a day without gaining an inch.
"It does seem weird to rent goats," Jolly acknowledged to WCNC.com..
