Mike Birbiglia's feature film Don't Think Twice earned a Best Comedy Feature Film nomination from the Broadcast Film Critics Association. The group's annual Critics Choice Awards will be handed out this Sunday.
Twice centers around members of an improv troupe who dream of a big break while they hold down menial jobs. The future of the group is in doubt when the performes get news their theater is shutting down, while scouts from a live sketch comedy TV show are interested in only two of the members.
I sat down with Birbiglia, and actors Keegan-Michael Key and Kate Micucci to talk about the film. We discussed early jobs they held while trying to "make it," and touched on the issue of skin color in the improv world.
