Wedding Budget: 6 Ways To Save Money On Your Big Day (VIDEO)

WATCH: 6 Things You Can Cut From Your Wedding Budget

The cost of the average wedding may be rising, but brides-to-be continue to look for ways to trim their fat Big Day budgets.

Kendal Perez, founder of HassleFreeSavings.com, stopped by local news show "Good Day Colorado" to discuss what wedding items you can skip in order to keep costs down.

Instead of sending out Save The Dates, which can cost over $100 based on your guest list, Perez suggests that couples use other means to spread the word -- such as online invitations, Facebook and email.

"If you're on a tight budget, that's a really easy way to cut that expense," said Perez. "Everyone can know your wedding date without spending too much money at all."

And rather than force your bridesmaids into the same matching dresses that they'll most likely wear only once, Perez suggests letting the bridal party select their own dresses, in the bride's preferred color palette, of course.

HuffPost blogger Leanna Gregor recently offered some advice on how couples can save cash on their weddings, such as skipping brand-name goods: "Pay for quality, not for the name," she wrote. "Consider that there are thousands of wedding vendors out there, and with just a little research and comparison shopping, you can find prices that better match your budget."
