The Super Bowl halftime show this Sunday starred Bruno Mars, a lively but safe choice in AstroTurf entertainment. Thankfully, the past 10 years of Super Bowl gigs have been much more interesting.

From Janet and nipplegate to Beyoncé and the blackout, here's everything we've learned and tried to unlearn from 10 years of decadent halftime mania. Remember when Madonna chanted "Greta Garbo and Monroe, Dietrich and DiMaggio" to a crowd of angry football fans in Indiana? That ruled.
