Wendell Pierce 'Lost Everything' In Louisiana Flooding

“I don’t know what I’m going to do."

Last weekend’s devastating flood in Baton Rouge, Louisiana destroyed approximately 40,000 homes and has left eight people dead. Among those affected is actor Wendell Pierce, who lost his home in the flooding.

The 52-year-old Louisiana-native spoke to TMZ at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday. “I don’t know what I’m going to do. I just lost everything,” he said, adding that the experience is a “private pain.”

The loss stirs up memories from 2005, “The Wire” star tweeted on Sunday, when he lost his childhood home in New Orleans in Hurricane Katrina.

He later shared additional info on how to help those affected by the flood.

In 2007, Pierce launched the Pontchartrain Park Community Development Corporation to re-build homes that were destroyed in his old New Orleans neighborhood during Hurricane Katrina. To date the organization has re-built 40 homes and restored several local parks and playgrounds.
