Western Conservative Summit In Denver This Weekend

The GOP seems poised to keep the Colorado bandwagon rolling this weekend as the Western Conservative Summit kicks off at the Denver Marriott. Hosted by the Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University, some of the more notable speakers include Herman Cain, Rick Santorum, Rick Perry, Tucker Carlson, John Bolton, Juan Williams, and Dick Morris.

Among others, some listed topics of discussion are:
  • "Will the USA see another centennial?"
  • "Is conservatism more than politics and economics?"
  • "Does America still lead the world?"

Attendees will also be encouraged to sign "Freedom Still In The Balance: The Lone Tree Declaration II," described by CCU as "a statement of vision and principles for American conservatives in the coming decade."

Tickets for the event sold out long ago, but a live stream will be available through the weekend, beginning at 5 p.m. Friday. Alternatively, less politically-inclined readers may prefer to click through Westword's 'Sexiest right-winger top 20 countdown.'

Sarah Palin said of Colorado Christian University's principles, "if only everybody would embrace what is taught as foundational principal at CCU.. their mission is to honor Christ in all that they do ... and having a biblical view of human nature. You're spot on, that's exactly what it is we need to impact our culture."

Speaking of last year's Western Conservative Summit, Pat Waak, then-chairwoman of the Colorado Democratic Party, told the Denver Post, "Those folks don't need a conference, they need a history lesson."
