The perfect topping can either elevate a burger to new culinary highs or it can overwhelm an otherwise delicious patty. So what are chefs' secrets to building the perfectly balanced burger? Well, we went to the New York City Wine and Food Festival's Burger Bash to find out.
From competition host Rachel Ray, New York City burger masters, and even Coolio, everyone had a strong opinion on what topping can make a burger better. Answers ranged in difficulty, such as bacon marmalade (because why just add bacon when you can make bacon better?) to a rich, simple slice of American cheese.
