Kombucha, the fermented tea that's taken American supermarkets by storm, is clearly here to stay. If you drink it and love it, then you know that this effervescent drink comes with a steep price tag. Luckily there is a solution -- you can make your own batch at home.

And trust us, when it comes to making this tea you want some really good directions because the first time dealing with a scoby -- the symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast that forms during fermentation -- can be scary.
