This Is What Men Are Really Saying When They Catcall Women

If a guy has ever yelled anything vile or offensive at you out of a moving car, what he might have meant was: "Society makes me feel like I have to objectify you to feel manly!"

In a new BuzzFeed video called "What Men Are Really Saying When Catcalling Women" men harass women on the street but instead of the usual "Hey baby," or "Smile for me" the catcallers are a little more honest.

The hilarious video perfectly illustrates just how horribly wrong street harassment is as parodied catcallers attempt to bait women with "I noticed you're confident, so I'm cutting you down to feel powerful!" and "Woohoo! I hate me too, girl!" While the video brings some comedic relief to a rather serious subject, it reminds us that this behavior should never be accepted as normal.

So no, catcallers, women don't care if you're "very sexually frustrated" or do it "because you're lonely" -- the sidewalk is just as much hers as it is yours so kindly negotiate your masculinity elsewhere.
