"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." This is a phrase you were probably raised on, and there's nothing really wrong with it, but for young, impressionable minds, it's meaning can be misconstrued into that when you fail at something, if you do it enough times, you'll eventually succeed. And though you might think you left that definition behind in grade school, whether you realize it or not, you've likely taken the meaning with you into adulthood and referenced it subconsciously after all your failures. The truth is, there are just some things that will never work out, no matter how much work or time you invest into it. Of course, we hear about it the most with relationships, but failure is omnipotent in every walk of life. There is nothing wrong with accepting failure and moving on...but this is still a fairly hard concept for most people to grasp, because of what they were conditioned to believe.
What would Beyonce do? While the 20-time Grammy award-winning singer (she's the most nominated woman in Grammy history) and actress is no stranger to success, she's also encountered her fair share of failure (we barely believe it ourselves...but she's a woman just like us, with the same trials and tribulations). Though she once confessed she believes hard work will usually get you what you want, she was more recently quoted admitting, "You can work super hard and give everything you have...and lose." Coming from one of the world's most eminent musicians, this bit of insight is so much more comforting, because it goes to show that you can be one of the most powerful and celebrated people on the planet and still fail, even after you've given it your all. But this is not to say that you just stop trying in general, because, well, even Beyonce fails! Instead, you must accept that which is not in your control, and keep on taking care of what is in your control (even if that means giving up on a dream to a pursue another), because, yes, Beyonce does fail...but she's not famous for her losses, she's famous for her wins. In the words of Queen B herself, "Never let success go to your head. Never let failure get to your heart." We definitely won't...especially if it'll make us as flawless as Beyonce!
