Now that winter has officially flown the coop and spring has taken root, it’s time to usher in a new set of design styles. The experts at Laurel and Wolf have sorted through last year’s spring trends and updated the list with a few newcomers for 2017 to help you decide what’s hot and what’s not this season.

Hot: Rattan

Rattan is here in a big way this spring, in all shapes and colors. From headboards to lampshades to baskets, it seems rattan is rocking almost every form these days.

Not: Indigo Textiles

The shibori dyed textile look was fun for a while, but enough is enough! We get why the fad was so popular, but it’s high time for a refresh.

Hot: Bananas

The banana leaf trend is clearly on the rise, but what about the actual fruit itself? You bet! Banana iconography has long been touted for its playfulness and sense of humor and we’re happy to see it back this spring.

Not: Pineapples

Pineapple decor exploded onto the scene this year, but with the banana bursting into the limelight, it’s time for the pineapple to step aside.

Hot: Terracotta

Cool spaces are making way for their warmer counterparts, and there’s no better way to achieve this than through the dusty burnt orange tones of Terracotta.

Not: Mirrored Furniture

As big as this trend was, it’s almost too glam for spring. And as such a bold style choice, frnakly we’ve OD-ed on its intensity.

Hot: Bold Wallpaper

Loud wallpaper can be a risk, but it’s one we’re willing to take this spring. When paired with the proper complimentary elements, the right bold wallpaper can be truly stunning.

Not: All-White Rooms

It’s official: white is a yawn. At least for now! Sure it’s a classic, but now is the time for colors and pattern. Don’t worry, you minimalists, style is cyclical.

Hot: Abstract Geometrics

Color-blocking and geometric prints are appearing in rooms as throw pillows and accent rugs.

Not: Chevron

It was fun while it lasted, but sometimes you just gotta know when to fold ‘em.

Hot: Curvy Furniture

Curvy couches and chairs are cozier and more inviting than the sharp angles of rectangular furniture.

Not: Sharp Edges

See! We told you! Say sayonara to the severity of straight lines and right angles.

Hot: Orange

October isn’t the only time of year when orange is acceptable anymore. It’s bold and bright and we’re excited about its resurgence!

Not: Millennial Pink

Pink will never truly be out, but it’s time for it to take a little breather.

Hot: Geometric Wall-Hangings and Mobiles

Wall and ceiling decor is getting in on the geometric action too this season.

Not: Macrame

It was fun seeing macrame make a come-back, but it’s time for a sleeker look this spring.
