What's In My Beauty Bar Right Now?

A woman should find the formula and routine that suits her best after some trial and error, and research of her own. That's where I come in.

I consider myself very lucky. As a beauty and style contributor, I'm constantly trying out different products and adding the best of the best to my beauty bar. I'm one who loves research, not to mention trial and error.

The other day, a friend had asked me what I'm using these days. She has been bored of her makeup choices and wants to switch things up. It's hard for me to recommend exactly what she should add to her beauty bar without knowing how much time she has to get ready, what she does all day long and what kind of effect her makeup has on her throughout the day. In order for me to do that, I'd have to become her stalker.

A woman should find the formula and routine that suits her best after some trial and error, and research of her own. That's where I come in. What I can do to help my friend (and other ladies looking to make some makeup transitions) is offer up my favorite picks at the moment -- maybe these products will work for her (you), too.

So here's what I'm using right now...

Cosmetics

M.A.C. Limited Edition Wonder Woman Eyeliner: Unfortunately, I can't find this product anywhere anymore. But have no fear, the M.A.C. Jumbo Penultimate Eyeliner ($19.50 at Nordstrom.com) sure comes close. It's easy to apply -- perfect for ladies who don't have that steady, artistic hand makeup artists have. And the best part is, it won't smudge when your lid gets oily.

Bourjois Paris Volume Clubbing Mascara in Ultra Black: This is hands down the best mascara ever. The only snag? It's hard to find. Do a quick search on eBay and you might luck out.

Hourglass Film Noir Lash Lacquer
($28 at Sephora.com): Apply this lacquer to your lashes after you put on mascara. It gives them an extra boost.

Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Blush & Highlighter ($11.95 at PhysiciansFormula.com): Sweep across all shades to give yourself the ultimate glow. Don't mix it up, just apply as is.

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm ($15 at Clinique): I love the Chubby Stick because not only do they make my lips luscious, every color in this collection looks natural.

Essie's Knockout Pout ($3.10 at Amazon.com): Every time I get a manicure, I scour the salon for Essie's Knockout Pout. It's the hottest nail color of the summer, and heck, I love it so much, I'm making it "in" for fall.

Skincare

Antho Beauty Purists Chocolatier's Gift Nourishing Face Mask ($15.95 at MyAntho.com): This face mask is so yummy, you'll want to eat it. But don't, it's for your face!

Neutrogena Alcohol-Free Toner ($7.99 at Drugstore.com): I never forget the most important step in my three-step facial process. The toner not only helps get rid of dead, dry skin, it will also seal the moisture in for when you apply your moisturizer.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes ($17.99 at Amazon.com): I have sensitive skin, and these cleansing towelettes are so gentle, but do the job.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 ($14 at SkinStore.com): This lightweight moisturizer is like a dream come true. It also gives me that healthy glow I need.

Murad CitySkin Night Treatment ($62 at Amazon.com): I love everything from Murad, but this serum for nighttime is pretty amazing. I kid you not, it will prevent those fine lines.

Eyecandy Coolers ($12 at EyecandyCoolers.com): If I don't get enough sleep at night, these Eyecandy Coolers can trick onlookers to believing you got your usual eight hours.
