Improving your health doesn't have to be a long, complicated process -- in fact, according to several leaders in the health and wellness community, enhancing your well-being can start today by focusing on certain simple habits.

Earlier this week, HuffPost President and Editor-in-Chief Arianna Huffington hosted a panel titled What Is Working: Health in New York City, where healthcare influencers including NBC News chief medical editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman and Chopra Foundation founder Deepak Chopra discussed what we can do now to improve our health.

Emotional wellness -- including understanding what's causing our stress -- was a key topic in the discussion. Self magazine Editor-in-Chief Lucy Danziger pointed out that stress can affect anyone, and explained that it's an important health issue that everyone should monitor.

"Stress knows no socioeconomic bounds," Danziger said. "We are all so stressed, we're not sleeping, we're eating too much [and] we're not exercising."

Each panelist offered tips and insight on how to achieve a more healthy and balanced lifestyle. According to Snyderman, prioritizing well-being is the first step in making positive and significant changes.

"You have to realize that the tarmac of your life is getting shorter, and in that moment you start to think 'How do I crystalize things better?'" Snyderman said.
