We're always on the lookout for great gifts for food nerds. By that do we mean "always on the lookout for things we would like someone to give us as a gift?" Maybe. That's not the point.

The point is that these amazing whiskey barrel Adirondack chairs by Balazs Moldovan are now for sale on Etsy.

The Awesomer described these chairs as "a gorgeous example of upcycling done right," and we totally agree. They manage to completely avoid the cheesiness that a lot of whiskey-barrel-novelties seem to fall prey to, and are just plain lovely chairs -- whether they used to hold whiskey or not.

Balazs Moldovan, the San Diego-based furniture maker who handcrafts these chairs, describes the process like a puzzle: "Usually I draw up a plan and start with brand new material that I can cut in anyway, but not this time. It was like having all the puzzle pieces but I had to create a whole new picture."

It seems like it's only a matter of time before our dream of living in a cabin made from whiskey barrels comes true.
