This Is What WH Reports Sound Like When They Quote Jay-Z

There's no doubt that a White House press briefing can be eventful, but who knew that it was also an occasion where Jay-Z lyrics were dropped?

In Thursday's briefing, Politico's Donovan Slack asked White House Press Secretary Jay Carney about Jay-Z's newly released "Open Letter," a song in which the rapper disses politicians who criticized his trip to Cuba and suggested he personally spoke to President Obama.

While Carney had a quick reply to the question, Slack's quoting of Jay-Z's lyrics are far more enthralling. She said:

I just want to return to Beyonce and Jay-Z. Jay-Z released a rap today, I know the other day you said that Treasury was the one that cleared their trip, he suggested that he got White House permission – that he personally spoke with the president. I’ll just quote: 'I turned Havana into Atlanta. Boy from the hood, I got White House Clearance. Obama said chill you gonna get me impeached. You don’t need this expletive anyway, chill with me on the beach.'

Listen to Slack's clear deadpan performance in the video above.
