Whitney Houston Death: Cissy Houston Breaks Her Silence

Cissy Houston: 'I Don't Blame Myself'

After nearly two months following the death of Whitney Houston, the late singer’s mother, Cissy, is now breaking her silence regarding her daughter’s tragic passing.

During an exclusive interview with local New Jersey television station WWOR, Houston expressed her distaste in the media’s coverage of the fallen Pop star.

"The media are awful. People have come from here and there, [and they] don't know what they're talking about,” she said. “People I haven't seen in 20 years…Here they come, [they] think they know everything, but that's not true. But God has his way of taking care of all of it, and I'm glad I know that. They really chopped on her, chopped on her … kept, kept, kept."

Houston went on to tell WWOR news anchor Brenda Blackmon that she doesn’t have any regrets about raising her only daughter. "I know I did the best I could … I don't blame myself. I know I did the best I could for everything," she said. "My children are my whole life. She was very special to me, very special. She was my only daughter, and a good one."

The 78-year-old Gospel singer also dismissed rumors that the “The Bodyguard” actress was plagued with financial issues stating; “She's not broke. She's not anything, none of that crap."

Whitney Houston died in a Beverley Hills hotel room on February 11 from accidental drowning. Heart disease and cocaine use were also listed as contributing factors, according to the L.A. County coroner.
