It's been one year since Whitney Houston fans mourned the loss of one of the greatest voices to have ever existed. The international pop legend, who passed away February 11, 2012 at 48 years old after drowning in her hotel bathtub, was an icon to many but her legions of gay fans ascended the late superstar to "gay icon" status.
Houston's timeless hits, such as "I Will Always Love You," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and "How Will I Know," among others, resonated with so many members of the LGBT community. In 1999, the late pop diva performed at the Pier Dance, New York City's hallmark closing event to Gay Pride saying, "What I received was lots of love. Mad Love."
To remember Houston on the one-year anniversary of her death, we compiled some of the greatest drag queen lip-sync performances of her immortal songs. May her music, fierceness and presence live on for years to come!
