Who Is Jill Kelley? Tampa Socialite At Center Of David Petraeus Scandal

Who Is Jill Kelley?

As one of the women at the center of the David Petraeus scandal, many are wondering: Who is Jill Kelley?

Kelley's name first surfaced when she was revealed as the woman receiving harassing emails from biographer Paula Broadwell. The 37 year old is based in Tampa, Fla., and was serving as a social liaison for MacDill Air Force Base. She was a regular guest at Central Command events hosted by Petraeus, according to the AP.

Kelley's family emigrated to the Philadelphia area in the 1970s, Philly.com adds. Her mother and father, John and Marcelle Khawam, owned a Middle Eastern restaurant in Voorhees, N.J., located on the other side of the Delaware River.

Court records reveal that Kelley's twin sister, Natalie Khawam, was embroiled in legal trouble over the last few years. Included in that mess was a custody battle that Petraeus and Gen. John Allen were involved in, the AP reported.

Kelley's husband Scott works as a surgeon, and the couple together operated a charity called the Doctor Kelley Cancer Foundation. The Huffington Post reported that the organization's tax forms projected its mission as one "exclusively to conduct cancer research" and "grant wishes to terminally ill adult cancer patients." Records found conflicting information, headed by money spent on parties, entertainment and attorney fees, among other expenses.
