We all talk about how schools are failing our kids when it comes to science and technology. Yet here are ten kids who prove us wrong. In a partnership between the New York City Economic Development Corporation and CE Week NY, the ten New York City students highlighted here won the first 10 Under 20: Young Innovators to Watch award. Their winning projects include everything from robots to apps, from security devices to microtubes, and cover areas as diverse as home automation, health, special needs and social networking. Judges included some of the most active educators and innovators in New York City.

"Cultivating an environment that encourages young innovators is vital to the creation of a diverse and equitable urban economy and tech ecosystem," says NYCEDC Executive Vice President Eric Gertler.
