Why Do We Need Changes?

At first sight, it might seem that the majority of people would like to have a stable life to avoid unpleasant surprises in the future. That might be one of the reasons why we look for a well-paid job in a stable company or agency with an excellent reputation. And it's not surprising as in such a way we try to ensure that we (and our children) will have food to eat and roof under the head. But at times, especially when we've reached what we wanted and have such stability, we might feel bored or even exhausted by the routine. Quite often we might even feel irritated or stressed for no apparent reason. Why is this happening?

We strive for stability mostly because of fears preserved since ancient times that we might not have food and warm place to sleep. By not being able to satisfy our basic needs, we might suffer and even die -- that's why there's a strong instinctual need to avoid such dangers. And for this reason, things that fall beyond our control, like natural disasters, seem so scary to us. We try to have more and more control over the situation simply to survive and make sure that our children will be able to survive as well. And then suddenly we feel bad and not satisfied with our lives anymore. I believe the main reason for this is that stability often leads to stagnation.

Life is all about the movement: the more we move, the more joyful we feel. And it's true not only about physical movement but also emotional, intellectual. Paradoxically enough, only doing something that breaks with the routine can fill us with vital energy and makes us move forward in life. If we refuse to step beyond the routine and familiar work, our brain will refuse to work, and instead of being flexible we might become stiff and rigid, and, thus, can lose the capacity of making quick decisions under different circumstances and life situations. Thus, it's quite necessary to make some changes in life, as they will help us feel energized, learn new things, become a better personality and much more.

When it comes to making some changes in life, it's often easier to talk about them rather than do something. The first step is always the most difficult one. But one doesn't have to do something as radical as moving to a new country; even small transformations might be quite beneficial, and, who knows, some minor steps might further lead to huge leaps. So, what should one start with when one feels like he or she gets stagnated and needs some changes?

Changing a hairstyle and outfit might be very useful and rewarding. The appearance is the physical reflection of one's inner self and mood. Always wanted to have a short haircut and dye hair violet but never had the courage to do so? Well, just do it. Instead of overthinking it's worth taking some action and do something you've ever wanted to do. The same goes with clothes. It's worth trying different outfits and expressing one's personality in such a way.

The next thing worth doing is renovating the house or apartment and adjusting it to your personal needs and preferences. You can start with decorating and redesigning a bathroom and make it not only practical but also unique and fascinating. There are a lot of tips for bathroom decoration that would help you understand what kind of bathroom you want and how to make it so practically. The same is true with kitchen, bedroom, living room.

The next thing worth trying to break away from the routine is to take a journey at least twice a month. It's not necessary to go far: visiting the nearest town or going camping might be quite refreshing. Besides, every trip is a small adventure, and we do need such adventurous experiences.

Changes in life help us move forward and become better professionals and better personalities, and that's why even small variations in life can make us look at others and oneself differently and can bring us joy and life satisfaction.
