Wilco Headlines A.V. Fest/Hideout Block Party: Chicago Natives Join Two-Day Lineup (VIDEO)

A.V. Fest/Hideout Block Party Unveils Homegrown Headliner

If you've been struggling to choose between A.V. Fest/Hideout Block Party and Riot Fest, two big-ticket music events hitting Chicago the weekend of September 14, this news might tip the scales: Chicago-born Wilco will headline the event, according to an announcement from organizers Wednesday.

The A.V. Fest/Hideout Block Party runs Sept. 14-15 at The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. Joining Wilco is a lineup that includes Iron & Wine, Glen Hansard and Lee Fields & the Expressions. Local favorites Redmoon Theater will also be on hand for two special performances during the event.

Two-day passes originally available for $40 have sold out, and the price has been bumped to $50, but at $25 per day, it's still a steal, especially compared to ticket prices at that other Chicago music fest, which will set you back $95 per day -- that is, if you managed to buy them before they sold out.

A portion of the festival proceeds will benefit Rock For Kids, Literacy Work, Drummond Elementary School and Oscar Meyer Magnet School.

Last year, the inaugural A.V. Fest featured Archers of Loaf, Hum and The Thermals. The fifteenth-annual Hideout Block Party last year was headlined by Andrew Bird and Mavis Staples.
