'Wilfred' Renewed: FX Orders Season 3, Changes Showrunners

'Wilfred' Renewed By FX

"Wilfred" has been renewed by FX. The network has ordered a 13-episode third season.

However, there will be a change behind the scenes. FX announced writers Reed Agnew and Eli Jorne will now serve as executive producers and showrunners on the comedy. David Zuckerman, showrunner and executive producer of the first two seasons, will stay on the series as an executive producer.

"As John [Landgraf] said at the summer TCA, it was only a matter of time before we picked up the show, we just had to work some things out," Nick Grad, executive vice president of original programming at FX, said in a statement. "David Zuckerman has done an amazing job adapting and reconceiving Wilfred for FX. It was his decision to step down from the showrunner's post, but we're very happy he is going to stay involved with the show. Both we and David have great faith in the ability of Reed and Eli to seamlessly step up and take over the reins. I have no doubt they'll do a great job."

"Wilfred" stars Elijah Wood as Ryan, a man who sees his neighbor's dog, Wilfred (Jason Gann) as a human in a dog suit.

According to FX, Season 2 of "Wilfred" averaged 2.6 million viewers and 1.7 million adults in the 18-49 demographic on a first-run basis.

Season 3 is set to debut in June 2013.
