Coach Will Muschamp has the honor of leading the University of Florida Gators against the Florida State University Seminoles during the annual Share a Little Sunshine Showdown, scheduled for Nov. 24 in Tallahassee. Coach Muschamp has been coaching University of Florida's football team since 2011, aiming for victory on the field and in support of the state's Florida Fan Game, which pits fans of the teams against each other to determine who are Florida's Number One fans. Each time a football fan sends an invitation to friends and family to visit Florida through the Share a Little Sunshine Facebook page, they score one for the team and one for the state's tourism industry.
People say I'm enthusiastic and passionate during Gator football games. But I'm also passionate about you.
I was born in Georgia and I've spent a lot of time living and coaching in Texas, Kentucky, Louisiana and Alabama. But my formative years, from elementary school to junior high school, were right here. You are home too.
I love The Swamp and the crowds, decked out in orange and blue, that come to tailgate and cheer on our team. I love the family environment that exists in the athletic department among all coaches and student athletes.
But there is more to Gainesville than the University of Florida's athletic program. I love you for your friendly people, educational values and culture.
I love the serenity of Lake Wauburg, Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park and Devil's Millhopper State Geological Park. All that wildness is complimented by the culture on display at the William Reuben Thomas Center, the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art and the Florida Museum of Natural History.
Who wouldn't love the famous Bat House, which launches crowds of tens of thousands nightly, or the Butterfly Rainforest, where your children can tour a four-story screened world of insects.
Much is unique here. Our people. Our athletic teams. Our great outdoors. Our art and culture. You provide a great home.
