'Eat, Fry, Love': William Shatner Warns Of Turkey Frying Dangers

If you're worried about how exactly to deep fry a turkey, never fear -- William Shatner is here! Shatner has teamed up with State Farm to offer sage advice on how to prepare (or not prepare) your turkey. His documdrama has it all: multiple uses of the technical term "dingle dangle," an extremely fake fire and, naturally, Shatner chucking a turkey fryer.

He explains that he was formerly a deep fryer fan, but has since changed his ways. "Blinded by my hunger, I ignored safety, spat in the face of science." Then, after he learns the hard way (fire!) about the perils of the deep fryer, Shatner admits, "I love you, but you only brought me pain."

We're not sure if Shatner's advice is actually going to prevent anyone from deep-frying a turkey. The whole bit is mostly silly, with some actual facts thrown in. Still, he does make the ordeal pretty scary: a lot of oil and a giant deep fryer never actually struck us as a good idea. More cooking fires happen on Thanksgiving than any other day of the year, and U.S. fire departments are responding to more than 1,000 fires each year in which a deep fryer is involved. That's more than $15 million in property damage every year.
