Each Spring the American Art Awards board selects the 25 Best Galleries And Museums In America.

American Art Awards:"We consider thousands of the most established art venues from across the nation. This year we awarded several museums with historical significance of 100+ years, some with over 100,000 annual visitors, some specializing in American acquisitions and others foreign antiquities. We've also selected some of the most reputable art galleries which specialize in contemporary works. In addition, we chose a few art facilities and centers dedicated to exhibiting the struggle and triumph of minorities and making an impact on their communities with inspiring educational programs."

HighlightHollywood.com reported in 2016: "The impressive AAA board chooses only one museum or gallery per state per year. Their selections are based on years established, industry reputation, online buzz, location, size, socially relevant exhibits, motivational and educational programs, represented artists as well as artist, client and visitor references."

This year the American Art Awards selected Williamsburg Art Gallery as Best Gallery Or Museum In Virginia.

Bierdz explains, "Located on Merchants Square along Duke of Gloucester Street in beautiful downtown Williamsburg, Virginia, this time capsule is part of the rich Historic Triangle and dedicated to showcasing the beauty of the region. They exhibit artists ranging from celebrated local landscape traditionalists to international artists from Italy, Turkey, France, Panama, The Netherlands and most recently, exceptional work by Russian painters of the Moscow School of Russian Realism (Surikov Institute, Moscow). This is a warm, poignant, timely crossroads for art."

ABOUT WILLIAMSBURG: For the artist, the greater Williamsburg, Virginia region has it all. The relationship between art and history is timeless. Beyond the many opportunities which the Historic Triangle offers the artist in visually bringing to life America’s early history, the contemporary landscape is equally breathtaking. It is a land of four full seasons, of incredible foliage and blooming flowers, a variety of birds and wildlife, marshlands, small harbors, panoramic views over rivers and bays, rolling hills and a natural light which owes much to its mid-East Coast latitudes. At the end of the day, the Tidewater peninsula is often home to spectacular sunsets.

Williamsburg, Virginia is a natural and inspiring home for all kinds of artists, whether they are steeped in history, architecture, the everyday lives of people, drawn to scenic landscapes or simply seeking a relaxing environment where creativity is encouraged.

DIRECTOR GULAY BERRYMAN: "I like keeping an open mind to ideas; art which comes from elsewhere is enriching and should provoke curiosity and the desire to learn. A good art gallery has the dual obligation of bringing to the public the art they want to see but also, to sometimes surprise them and pique their interest with the unusual, the unknown or the unexpected. We have exceptionally beautiful work from over forty different painters, sculptors, and artists working in a variety of mediums."

Williamsburg Art Gallery is centrally located adjacent to the College of William & Mary and Colonial Williamsburg. Williamsburg Art Gallery / 440A W Duke of Gloucester Street / Williamsburg, Virginia / 23185 /
