Winnetka 'Le Grand Reve' Listed At $5 Million Discount (PHOTOS)

A property that once held the record of the Chicago area's most expensive piece of real estate ever is newly on sale -- at $5 million off its peak listing price.

The 27,000-square-foot Richard Landry-designed Le Grand Reve -- or "The Big Dream" -- was listed over the weekend by Jameson Sotheby's International Realty. The price for what's being called the "finest estate in the Midwest"? A mere $27 million.

The six-bedroom mansion was on the auction block last fall, but did not sell, Curbed reports.

The mansion also comes with six bathrooms, a two-story rotunda, an outdoor pool, a Tiffany-domed spa, a wine cellar and -- of course -- a covered loggia.

Is this home a one-percenter's dream come true? Or a North Shore megalophobe's nightmare?
