Woman Reportedly Beheaded By Man Who Then Jumped In Front Of Train

A woman was reportedly beheaded on Tuesday by a man who then took his own life by jumping in front of a Long Island Rail Road train, PIX11 reported.

The body of a woman believed to be in her 60s, was found outside a Farmingdale apartment complex, NBC New York reported. The woman's head was severed.

Police confirmed the 30-year-old man who jumped in front of the train had beheaded the woman. Officials said they did not believe the incident was terror-related.

A crime scene has been established on Secatogue Ave. in Farmingdale, where a person is dead on the nearby train tracks.

Updates to the MTA's Twitter account for the line suggested that a person had been hit by a train.

Tweets from persons allegedly on the train also indicated that a person had been hit, and that crews were attempting to restore power and provide passengers with provisions until a rescue train could arrive.

The LIRR Ronkonkoma line was suspended, and other lines were operating with delays. However, MTA officials said the trains should be running on schedule for Wednesday morning's rush.
