Two Women Get Painfully Candid About What It's Like To Struggle With Weight

Friends Candi and Lyndsey open up to Dr. Phil about their decades-long battle with their weight.

Candi went on her first diet when she was 10 years old. She recalls her mom saying, "You're such a pretty girl but if you would just lose 5 pounds, you would be beautiful."

In her 20s, she was so obsessed with weight that she developed an eating disorder. "I'm tired of weight and body image even being an issue," she says, turning to Dr. Phil for help.

For Lyndsey, her weight issues started in college when she gained 50 pounds and her sorority sisters made fun of her. "I would see a sketch of me with an arrow pointing to my spare tire. That was really hurtful to me," says Lyndsey, who then gained more weight after college. "It feels like I'm in a body that's not mine," she adds.

In the video above, Dr. Phil explains the connection between self-image and body image, and tune in to his show Tuesday for some of the top reasons he says most diets don’t work.
