Hair Above The Rest: World's Best Beards and Moustaches

Germany's Elmar Weissar took home the coveted best beard title at the World Beard and Moustache Championships for the third time in Trondheim, Norway.

Weissar's whiskers, which jut out far from his face, were shaped to resemble a reindeer on one side and the Norwegian flag at the other, according to Time.

He beat out 160 bearded competitors to win the "Best In Show" category. It was a return to the champion's table for Weissar, whose facial hair also got the top prize in 2007 when he modeled his beard to look like Berliln's Brandenburg Gate. In 2005, he won with his beard modeled on London's Tower Bridge.

Weissar, 47, a hairdresser, said that his beard is so long that it reaches his waist when it isn't coiffed.

American whisker masters won six gold medals in Sunday's competition, including Keith "Gandhi Jones" Haubrich who won the freestyle moustache division for the third straight time in the biennial event.
