Wynwood Life's Art Is Soul of Festival

Life in Wynwood is not the same.

You can see it any night of the week.

The old hood is trendy, overpriced and gentrified with tourists.

Yet there are a few local warriors who are fighting the good fight. They don’t do things for money or followers or fame and status. They do things for truth and craftsmanship, community and giving-back.

Wynwood Life, the largest block party in Wynwood all year, has everything one would expect from a weekend street festival: music, vendors, food, fashion and of course art.

The art part tho.

Wynwood Life 2017 Art Program Details

Robert William de Los Rios of WynwoodMap.com and The RAW Project Team have curated a selection of Wynwood's Finest including Ahol Sniffs Glue, Luis Berros, Tati Suarez, Ernesto Maranje and Amanda Valdes.

These artists will paint murals live throughout each day of the festival in the Art Tent sponsored by ID Art Supply & M.A.D.E (Miami's new Arts Design Education center). This year they are creating an art lounge under a big red NOMAD stretch tent where you can chill, watch the artists work and pick up new skills throughout the day with a series of artist led workshops and industry conversations.

There will also be a pop up gallery in partnership with WYN317 Gallery to showcase the work of the featured artists, emerging artist contest winners and selects of WYN317.

There will be daily raffle fundraiser benefiting The RAW Project, a non-profit group working to improve the lives of students and inspire creativity in disadvantaged neighborhoods through large scale mural arts programs.

If you learn anything about Wynwood, it should be the RAW Project.

Emerging Artist Competition Presented by M.A.D.E (Miami Arts Design Education)

The call to artists is offering fresh new talent a chance to showcase their work and paint live at Wynwood Life Festival. 6 Winners will Each receive a $50 gift certificate to ID Art Supply, a wall to paint at the event and space in the Pop-Up WYN317 Gallery to display and sell their work.

Helping emerging artists and students is altruistic in ways Life in Wynwood is often not.

Wynwood Life isn’t for the kids, but it’s definitely about them and the future.
